What Are Thermal Rifle Sights?
Traditional night vision needs ambient light to work. Thermal rifle sights do not.
Thermal rifle scopes detect heat signatures, effortlessly cutting through camouflage, smoke, and zero-light conditions where standard optics fail. For tactical professionals and serious enthusiasts, a thermal optic isn't just an accessory, it's a force multiplier. It provides immediate situational awareness, allowing you to identify targets faster and engage with absolute confidence.

Speed is survival. Weighing in at under 17.7oz (500g), the IOP13 thermal sight drastically reduces weapon fatigue. Paired with a 13mm F1.0 objective lens, it delivers a massive 13.5°×10.1° field of view (FOV). This wide viewing angle is critical for clearing spaces and scanning surroundings without losing your peripheral awareness.
- Fluid precision in dynamic engagements
Powered by a 256×192 (12µm) sensor with a sub-25mK NETD rating, the IOP13 detects the subtlest heat signatures even in high humidity. Combined with a 50Hz frame rate and a crystal-clear 0.39-inch AMOLED display, moving targets render with butter-smooth real-time clarity.
Its 1.5x base magnification (specific to IOP13), supported by up to 4x E-zoom, strikes the perfect balance for close- to mid-range applications.
- Extended endurance & customization
Built for extended operations, a single field-swappable 18650 battery provides over 7 hours of continuous runtime. Operators can fully adapt to their environment using 5 color palettes, 7 reticle types, and flexible mounting options (standard Picatinny mounting for the thermal sight plus the integrated 45° RMR interface for your red dot).
Plus, with 32GB of on-board storage and WiFi streaming, capturing after-action reviews and training footage has never been easier.
IOL25: The Ultimate Multi-Purpose Thermal Sight
While the IOP13 dominates close-range speed, the IOL25 is the flagship of total adaptability. It solves the "one-job" problem by offering four distinct operational modes in a single, rugged chassis, and it also ships with the IOTS-standard 3+1 multi-purpose concept for true multi-role use.
- Clip-On Mode: Mounts directly in front of your day scope to instantly convert your setup for night use—without re-zeroing.
- Standalone Mode: Functions as a dedicated primary thermal rifle sight for precision mid-to-long-range shooting.
- Handheld Scanner: Detaches effortlessly to serve as a lightweight scanner for scouting and property surveillance.
- 45° offset “+1” RMR solution: Via compatible 45° RMR mounting configurations, the IOL25 can be integrated into a system that combines a primary thermal sight with a secondary red dot, enabling rapid transitions between mid-range and close-range engagements.

FAQs about INFITAC Thermal Sights
The IOP13 is a purpose-built, compact thermal sight optimized for speed and close-quarters scenarios (CQB). Its wider field of view (13.5°×10.1°) makes it ideal as a primary CQB thermal optic, especially when combined with its integrated 45° RMR mounting interface for a mini red dot—delivering a powerful thermal + red dot pairing without extra rail usage.
The IOL25, by contrast, is our flagship multi-purpose system. It also supports the IOTS 3+1 multi-role concept but features a higher-resolution 384×288 sensor, a 2x base magnification, and a 10.5°×7.9° FOV, making it better suited for users who need to move seamlessly from mid-range precision to handheld scanning in seconds.
For close-to-medium range engagements, yes. The 1.5x base magnification on the IOP13 is intentionally chosen to prioritize a wider 13.5° FOV. In CQB scenarios, maintaining situational awareness is more critical than heavy magnification.
If you need to reach out further, the IOP13 offers up to 4× digital zoom while maintaining a fast, wide baseline — and can be used as a Cclip-On with an LPVO for added reach.
Absolutely. Unlike traditional analog night vision (which can be permanently damaged by bright light), INFITAC thermal sights detect heat radiation, not visible light. You can seamlessly use the IOP13 or IOL25 in broad daylight to spot targets hiding in dense brush, shadows, or behind smoke screens.
However, as with all thermal imaging devices, you should avoid pointing the objective lens directly at the sun or other extremely intense heat sources for prolonged periods, as this may cause permanent damage to the detector.
Connectivity equals control. Through built-in WiFi, you can link your thermal sight directly to the INFITAC APP (no internet/cellular service required in the field). This allows you to stream live footage to a smart device, customize reticles, and update firmware. Crucially, it enables advanced setups like the "corner shot" capability—allowing you to safely see around obstacles using your mounted thermal while your body remains behind cover.
Yes. Both the IOP13 and IOL25 ditch restrictive internal batteries in favor of standard, replaceable 18650 flat-top batteries. The IOP13 delivers over 7 hours of runtime, and the IOL25 offers up to 6 hours. You can carry affordable spares in your rig and hot-swap them in seconds, ensuring your optic never dies during a critical moment. Both models also support USB Type-C external power banks.
